America East Tournament: Maine Upsets Top-Seeded Vermont, 61-59 in OT Clayton Brown scored six of his 12 points in overtime to lift fifth-seeded Maine to a 61-59 win over No. 1 seed Vermont in the America East Tournament semifinals on Saturday. The teams were tied 51-51 at the end of regulation, but Maine (12-17) took control with a 7-0 run in overtime. After Trevor Gaines, who led the Catamounts with 20 points and 12 rebounds, scored to put Vermont ahead 53-51, Freddy Petkus hit a 3-pointer and Brown hit two straight shots to put the Black Bears up 58-53 with 2:17 left in overtime. |
