Lehigh Appoints Bill Taylor Head Basketball Coach Bill Taylor, a former assistant coach at North Carolina Greensboro and Notre Dame, was picked Tuesday as the new head basketball coach at Lehigh. Taylor, the 26th men's basketball coach at Lehigh, replaces Sal Mentesana, whose contract was not renewed following the 2002 season. Taylor takes over a team that went 43-124 in six seasons under Mentesana. In the 2001-02 season, the Mountain Hawks finished last in the Patriot League with a 2-13 record, 5-23 overall. Taylor was the top assistant to Fran McCaffrey at North Carolina Greensboro. In three seasons the team made the postseason twice, playing in the NCAA Tournament in 2001 and the NIT in 2002.
